Rock With Me: Naturallytash ;)
It has been brought to my attention that some of you ladies would like ME to answer the same interview questions that my Rockin Naturals do as a way to get to know me a little bit better… soo here is an Exclusive interview with Naturallytash (me)… lol
My name is Natasha but I am best known as NaturallyTash. I am originally from Staten Island, NYC but I now reside in Houston, TX. I have been fully natural a little over 3 years now. I have been a Pre-K teacher for over 11 years and I honestly do love the kiddos! I am the Founder and Creator of IRMN and I have a youtube channel by the name of TashNaturally where i specialize in temporary hair color methods. Over time I got the name The Queen Of Hair Shadowing but I think I have grown into The Queen of Temporary Colors period 😉
What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
I had stopped using perms in my hair over 12 years before I went fully natural. What inspired me was I had killed my curl pattern by consistently dying and flat ironing my hair. One day I tried to rock my natural curls and it looked terrible. It was then I decided to go totally natural and gave up permanently dying and using any heat on my curls. I did protein treatments twice a month and I did and still do deep condish every time I wash my hair. I wore Bantu knot outs and braid and twist outs until my natural hair curl pattern returned which took about 6-7 months.
Top three products and prices.
1- Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin coconut oil $5.99
2- Cantu Leave in conditioner $5.99
3- Aussie Moist 3 minute deep condish $5.49
Fave go to hairstyle.
I’m a wash n go girl. That is pretty much all I do besides the occasional bantu or twist out. Its the color that will never be the same but the curls will lol
If you had to give your hair a name what would it be?
Her name is Chameleon cause she’s forever changing colors
If you hair is colored what do you use to do so?
This is a loaded question for me lol Lets just go off of right now. Right now my hair is red with orange tips. To get the red I did a deep conditioning color using a splat red and mane and tail shampoo ( refer to the deep conditioning tab for any questions) and the orange was done by mixing baby shampoo, vitamin c packs and head and shoulders dandruff shampoo and then applying to the tips of my hair and wrapping the tips with foil and leaving it in overnight. When I took the foil off in the morning my tips were a light browinsh orangish. I then did a deep conditioning color on the tips of my hair using Via temporary color in golden sunrise. All these colors can and will wash out. I’m all about temporary color!!
Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
Colorful, Liberating and Rockin!
Any advice to the natural newbies?
Find what works for YOU! Don’t let yourself get discouraged if products that work for someone else don’t work for you, or hairstyles you seen on YouTube don’t work out on your hair. Nobodies texture is better than anyone else’s. Its all trial and error until you find what works best for you. Same with products! If a product that works great on your hair folks start saying has such and such in it and you shouldn’t use it but you have been using it without any problems keep doing you!! Its great to have a hair crush but don’t compare your journey to their’s. Everyone’s hair is different!! Love your hair and it will love you back!!
What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?
I appreciate any and all compliments I get on my hair but what sticks out to me is the little girls in my Pre-k class all sitting down to draw a picture of me and everyone of them made my hair a different hair color and actually got into an argument over what color was the best! Mind you these were not colors that had just made up but actually colors I have done! Gotta love the kiddo’s 🙂
If you could only watch one natural hair vlogger on youtube who would it be? why?
I honestly don’t watch to many YouTuber’s anymore. In the beginning of my hair journey I really loved and still love Naptural85. I got alot of tips and simple hairstyles from her. This past summer I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was just as sweet in person as she comes across on her vids.
For those of you that don’t know I too have a youtube channel at www.youtube.com/tashnaturally. I must admit I have been busy lately and haven’t uploaded a video in about a month or two but I have a few in the works right now! My website keeps me pretty busy nowadays 😉
Finish this sentence:
I Rock My Natural because it is the way the most high intended me to be and who am I to argue with that!!
Big thanks to everyone that chooses to rock with me on a daily!
Keep it Rockin Ladies!!
