Natural Rockers You May Not Know But Should: Victoria

Introduction
Heyyy, my name is Victoria, I’m 22 & a I’m Caribbean girl from Barbados! I’m a writer, model and marketing communications specialist.
I’d say I’ve been natural for almost my entire life; minus 2 years (or so), I don’t even remember lol, but that ‘wrong turn’ I made putting relaxer in my hair actually contributed significantly to the health of my hair today. Sounds strange right? Let me explain. . .

What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
So I started getting my hair pressed with a hot comb when I was about 8 which really damaged my hair to the point where I’d only see curls when I put shampoo in my hair. My hair was really fuzzy ALL the time and hard to tame, so when I was 12 I begged my mom and got my 1st relaxer. I started to worship my hair after that lol, but the first time I washed my hair after that 1st relaxer it went poof! and my hair would not respond to the relaxer. I’d go to the salon but still end up having to use a flat iron to get my hair straight. Until I stopped relaxing my hair (cuz it was a waste of money) and relied solely on the flat iron. Then I got lazy and fed up with having to flat iron my hair and unknowingly started to transition. Then my curls reemerged lol.

Nope, but after you introduced me to them I’m really interested in trying!

If you hair is colored what do you use to do so?
I use bleach to achieve my blonde and semi-permanent dyes for other colors.

Any advice to the natural newbies?
Have patience – Your hair will not grow an inch per night. You’ll try products that your hair won’t respond to. You’ll try styles that are complete misses. You’ll feel like aborting mission. But hang in there.
Own your journey – It might be frustrating rocking one inch squiggles or four inch coils that just refuses to respond to a twist out but ROCK THAT ISH either way! Mask your growing pains of with creativity and confidence.

What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?
“What type of hair are you wearing and where did you buy it?”
Ooo I felt so much pride saying “This is my natural hair” haha.

Finish this sentence:
I Rock My Natural because my big bold hair is infused with confidence and confidence never goes out of style!
