What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?

Growing, finding myself, and my personal style is what made me to decide to go natural. Seeing all the beauty of what you can do with natural hair and pictures of Black women rocking what they were born with definitely inspired me. There are so many beautiful shapes and colors of natural hair…its limitless. Short, long, kinky, wavy, its never boring! Because i’m a hairstylist and I Love to change, I just went ahead and did the BIG CHOP. Transitioning is for those with patience, I just wanted it gone! lol
Top Three Products and Prices:
I’d have to say my top 3 products for natural hair would be…
*Nairobi Setting Foam! Its The BEST for setting your hair for any twist outs or molded and curled styles. I get it at $11.99 but I’ve experienced that price varies depending on where you purchase it from.
* Awapuhi Styling Treatment Oil by Paul Mitchell. Its a very light penetrating oil that moisturizes your hair and doesn’t sit on top of your hair. You can use it on wet or dry hair and it smells AMAZING! It goes for $8.39.
*It’s A 10 Miracle Silk Shampoo & Conditioner. It’s great on all hair types and does exactly what it says, makes your hair feel like silk! This also smells unforgettable. The products together go for about $23.00.

Fave go to hairstyle:
My fave go to style is The Coil! I love it, no matter my outfit…dressed up or down, the coils go with everything! They are so bouncy and fun, until my bush gets a little longer lol
If you had to give your hair a name what would it be?
If I had to give my hair a name it would be “ShaDiva”. My hair is quite the Diva! If things aren’t going her way or shes not styled to perfection…shes upset. As a Diva would be.

If you hair is colored what do you use to do so?
Right now I have an ash blonde on the tips of my hair. I used Blondor by wella with 20vol developer to lift my tips from a level 6 to a level 8. I then used a 7sm (silver metallic) by Chi mixed with a 7n (neutral) by Wella to tone my blonde.
Sum up your natural hair journey in three words:
Long, Exciting, Rewarding

Any advice to the natural hair newbies?
My advice to the natural newbies is to not give up. The end result is such a beautiful thing! If your transitioning..just cut all the chemically treated hair out and start fresh. things move a lot quicker that way. Keep the hot tools OUT of your hair. Let your natural kinks and curls take shape by maintaining natural and protective styling. Keep moisture in your hair at all times, weather it be styling products or deep moisturizing treatments. There are plenty of them out there that work for everyone differently. Purchase some cute scarves, hats, and hair accessories so you never have a dull moment being natural. Last but not least…Embrace the Beauty of your curl and be Patient.
What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?

I always hear, “OMG your hair is so pretty, I love your curl pattern, are you natural?” and im proud to say thank you and YES I am natural! Also, “Who does your hair?’ and I reply ME! lol

If you could only watch one natural hair vlogger on YouTube who would it be? why?

If there was one natural hair Vlogger I’d watch on YouTube it would be “ForeverFlawlyss” her name is Alyssa. She shows so many variations of twist outs and her hair always comes out perfect. Her texture is also similar to mine so I can relate to her styles and duplicate on myself. She also shows the products she uses and trail and error with her natural go to’s and wont do’s.

Your hair looks amazing. I now have the natural look but find it very hard to style my hair different ways because my hair is growing in so thick.

  • Love love your natural hair cut and color!
