Natural Rockers You May Not Know But Should: Gabrielle

Hello! My name is Gabrielle Bass. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist living in Arlington,
Texas–a suburb of Dallas-Fort Worth. I have been natural since Feb 2011.

What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
We all have an inner voice that guides us to make the decisions that we make. Mine told me to stop relaxing and coloring my hair, so I did. I transitioned for 3 days and couldn’t take it! I big chopped and it was like a weight or some type of oppression was lifted off of me. Definitely a spiritual experience!

Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
Defining. Unique. Transparent.

Any advice to the natural newbies?
Being natural is a process. Have patience and learn YOUR hair. What works for others may not work for you, but trust the process!

What was your favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?
My favorite compliment came from an older white gentleman while at the grocery store:
“…ma’am I’m not trying to get fresh with you, I just wanted to tell you your hair is gorgeous!”

If you could only watch one natural hair vlogger on youtube who would it be? why?
Well… I really don’t watch much YouTube at all. But to answer the question, that would be Jess aka MahoganyCurls. Her video presence and overall journey appeals to me most.
