Natural Rockers You May Not Know But Should: Britteny
Britteny Hartwell, I’m 23 years young. I’m from the DMV but currently live in MD. I work in a call center in DC. FYI- I hate wearing a headset at work especially when I rock my fro lol besides working full time I’m also a full time mother of two. I’ve been natural since 1-12-14. Yep, I’m a newbie (again).
2. What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
I’ve always wanted to stay natural but never knew how to treat my natural hair since everyone around me was on the creamy crack (perm). I learned how to treat my hair by watching MANY tutorials. I big chopped on 1-12-14 for the 3rd time. I never had the patience, until now and I’m loving every moment of it.
And I use coconut oil and water every day and night.
4. Fave go to hairstyle.
Right now my faves are the semi- high puff and rocking a fro. Easy to maintain. Since my hair grows up an out I love mainly any hair style I decide to do and since I added a touch of color I’m always satisfied with my results, if I don’t I’ll throw it in a high puff lol. I’ve learned to embrace my roots. My hair doesn’t make!
5. Have you tried hair shadowing?
No, I tried the spray dye before and it was on everything I owned and I think that will happen with the eye shadowing but I will try it one day.
6. Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
In three words I would say my natural hair journey has been overwhelming (at times), time consuming but it’s also been the best decision I ever made lol it’s been fun!
Have patience, keep your hair moisturized and protected. Don’t be discouraged, it’s your hair, own it! Find the products that best work for you and go on YouTube lol I learned everything I needed to know about natural hair by watching natural hair tutorials. Don’t give up!
Finish this sentence: I Rock My Natural because…
I Rock My Natural because this is what I what I was born with. I love the versatility of changing hair styles and not having to worry about purchasing expensive weaves that don’t match my hair color or texture.
