Natural Rockers You May Not Know But Should: Alesha
My name is Alesha Adams but my nickname is Lee and I use Lee Nicole for social media. I am 28 years old. I currently live in Buffalo NY, but I’m from Bronx NY. I am a Pediatric and Headache/Oncology Nurse. I have been natural for about 3 and a half years.
What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
I decided to go natural because after years of relaxers and weaves my hair was damaged beyond belief. It was thin and limp absolutely no life left in it. I transitioned for about a week. Honestly there was no way that I could deal with two textures. So I completely cut all my hair off, well my boyfriend who is also a barber cut it off for me. It was one of the best decisions that I could have ever made. Not only did I feel liberated, but I also let go of the pressure that society has placed on women of color and the acceptance of my hair in its natural state. I felt so free! Its a phenomenal feeling.
Top three products and prices.
My top three products are Organic Coconut oil and it retails for about $7. Elated Essentials Deep Treatment Repair Masque $12.99 and Elated Essential Natural Moisturizing Hair Cream $9.99.
Fave go to hairstyle.
My favorite hairstyle is a twistout. I love my third day/fourth day hair the best.
If you had to give your hair a name what would it be?
If I had to give my hair a name it would be Jazzy
If you hair is colored what do you use to do so?
My hair is a mixture of honey blonde/brown/red. I am in the process of growing the color out completely. I used dark and lovely hair dye to color my hair.
Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
Completely Life Changing!
Any advice to the natural newbies?
If I could give advice to a new natural, or someone contemplating going natural it would be to have patience. Its the foundation to a long healthy hair journey.
What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?
My favorite compliment was someone asking me where I bought my hair. It was funny to me because my hair doesn’t look like something I would buy in my opinion. Its always flattering to me when people think its a wig or weave.
If I could only watch one hair blogger it would be Whitney aka Naptural85. I absolutely love her hair journey. Not to mention her hair is gorgeous! Her hair techniques are also very insightful and useful.
I Rock My Natural Because: it makes me proud to be me!
