My First Curlfest Experience👑
I am still on a natural high from all the beauty, love and Black Girl Magic of Curlfest 2017. I had always wanted to go since it began but never had the opportunity until this year and now I am officially hooked! I met soo many stunning Queens, Kings and adorable kids. It was so beautiful and refreshing to be out there and if you are ever able to make it to Curlfest I would definitely say Go! The only thing I regret is not taking more pictures of the beautiful hairstyles but I was really enjoying being in the moment. It was also very humbling to be recognized by all my amazing followers and definitely an experience I will not soon forget.
If you have never been to curlfest before here are a few tips I picked up that day and things I would do differently next year:
~Get there early if you want to avoid the extremely long lines to the vendors. The event started at 12pm but me and my God sis didn’t get there until around 2:30 and I promise you by that time the lines were outrageous and they only got worse as the day progressed.
~Bring your own drinks and food. It would certainly be smart to do so because like the lines to the vendors the food truck lines were bananas as well and if you stand in one chances are you will be spending most of your curlfest time standing in one.
~Bring a blanket or folding chairs. You are most likely going to want to sit down and relax at some point during the day so it would be really smart to bring at least a blanket unless you don’t mind sitting on the grass. I forgot my blanket and believe me I will be ready next year!
~Bring a fan and/or umbrella. It was soooo hot out there and although curlfest was giving out fans at one point there is a chance that you might not get one so it would be really smart to have a back up. Also an umbrella or parasol is great to have to shield you from the sun. My godsis had brought one cause she thought it might rain but we used it to cool off from the sun.
~I would say one of the most important things you can do is make sure your phones and cameras are fully charged because you don’t want to miss out on taking any pictures! It would be really sad for either of them to die out there cause it really is a sea of beauty ready to be captured.
~Another tip I would say is to maybe have some cards with your social media name on them to give to the photographers out there that may take your picture. That way you will be sure to get tagged in any photos they may post.
There are many things that I wish I had done differently but overall I had a wonderful time and will certainly be back next year. Below you will find some of the photos I took but to get an overall view of the entire event you should google Curlfest 2017!
