My Fave Rockers On IG: @OhGinelle

Now with this beautiful natural I must admit to being bias because she is my real blood cousin. I love her music and her hair and she truly is a real sweetheart. She is certainly a Naturalista worth following and one I would love even if we weren’t related. I look forward to seeing her soon so I could put some color in those beautiful curls! 🙂

Hi! My name is Ginelle! I’m a twenty-something year old singer/model/vlogger, but I also run a shipping company to pay the bills. I currently live in New York, and was raised in south Florida all by way of St. Vincent & The Grenadines. I have been fully natural for almost 4 years and I am finally at waist length!

What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?

Tracee Ellis Ross. I started hair crushing on her back when Girlfriends was the show! I’ve always been obsessed with a beautiful head of curls, but I was afraid of not having “good hair”. I was a my momma relaxes my hair out of the box kind of girl. The one time I went to the salon, I ended up with dry stringy, over processed, and breaking hair. In August 2009, I decided to start stretching my relaxer to 3 months. By the end of November, I just decided to grow it out. I struggled through my transition until I chopped off what was left of my relaxed ends in January 2011. Check out my transition story!

Fave go to hairstyle.
My go to do Is a Wash & Go which usually ends up in a top knot.

Have you ever tried hair shadowing? Deep Conditioning Color? Splat washables?

I have tried chubby lipstick pens and color tattoo eye shadow which were both a fail. They ended up all over my hands face and clothes. I have also tried the color sprays which worked great and served its purpose. BTW, The QUEEN of hair shadowing is my cousin and all I know is that when I see her again in person she’s gotta color me up!

If your hair is colored what do you use to do so?

I dyed the bottom half of my hair with Shea Moisture’s color system in Reddish Blonde.
It’s very subtle, but it is exactly what I wanted. Gave me a nice sun kissed look.

Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
Worth it!

Any advice to the natural newbies?

Be patient! Keep that hair moisturized, avoid heat, keep those ends trimmed, and stay away from stylist that don’t understand you hair. I can’t begin to get started on salon nightmares! I’ve dealt with stylist that fried my hair, over trimmed, and ones that have tried to detangle my hair dry. Major no no!

What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?

The biggest compliment I got was my entire immediate family went natural as well. It’s a great feeling to know you inspired and motivated someone.

If you could only watch one natural hair vlogger on youtube who would it be? why?

I figured my hair out by trial and error, but one of the few natural hair vloggers that I still follow is Naptural85. Her hair texture is somewhat similar to mine and she is by far on of the sweetest people I have ever met!

Finish this sentence:
I Rock My Natural because it’s what I was BORN to do!
