I started following Bianca almost a year ago and very soon after fell in love with her gorgeous coils and product advice. A beautiful spirit with beautiful curls is what you can expect following her!
Hey my loves! My name is Bianca Alexa. I was born and raised in England, spent half my life in Puerto Rico and now I currently reside in LA. I’m a bilingual model/ beauty & natural hair vlogger. I love sharing my natural hair journey with others mostly through my instagram and YouTube. I have the biggest sweetest tooth and pizza addiction ever! I’m also a firm believer in everything happening for a reason and thankful to God for each new day I’m blessed with.
What or Who inspired you to go natural? Did you bc or transition?
Ever since I can remember I was relaxing and dyeing my hair practically every color under the sun. After years of the constant blow-drying, flat ironing and chemicals my hair started to suffer and became really brittle and weak. It would break and fall out constantly, which is when I knew I had to make a change. I remember going online looking up haircuts that I could give myself and I came across a blog talking about natural hair and the big chop. I saw how thick and healthy natural hair looked and that made me research on the topic. I transitioned for about 11 months, I stopped relaxing, blow-drying and dying my hair. My curl pattern was non existent due to all the heat damage my hair had at the time so I resorted to French braids and perm rod sets, then I gave myself the big chop in March 2012.

Have you ever tried hair shadowing? Deep Conditioning Color? Splat washables?
Yes I have. There is a video on my YouTube channel of how I colored my hair using eyeshadow, I love this method because the colors are very bright and you can switch it up with ease without having to worry about damaging your hair.
If you hair is colored what do you use to do so?
I actually just tried to lighten my hair for the very first time since being natural. I was once a hair dye junkie and I feel like it’s only a matter of time before it catches up with me I need to make a vlog on it because it was a long process. Since my natural hair color is black you have to lighten it gradually to avoid any damage. But at the moment I have a dye that I bought from Sallys beauty supply. I think the color is called dark Plum Brown, it has a reddish/ violet tint that I am loving at the moment.
Sum up your natural hair journey in three words.
Any advice to the natural newbies?
Stay away from harsh chemicals like parabens, sulfates and silicones , and avoid putting direct heat on your hair like blowdrying or flat ironing. I would also suggest to deep condition on the regular that really helps improve the elasticity and strength of your curls. It doesn’t have to be an expensive conditioner you can use extra virgin coconut or olive oil and just warm it up a bit and then leave it in your hair.
What was favorite compliment someone has ever given you on your hair?
My favorite compliment would have to be when someone told me that because of my hair they decided to big chop and go natural. I’m so honored by that and knowing that I help inspire someone to love and embrace their natural hair.
If you could only watch one natural hair vlogger on youtube who would it be? why?
Ah that’s a tough one because I feel like so many vloggers bring something different to the table, some are great with DIY products and all things natural ingredients while others have amazing hair style ideas. It’s really hard to just pick one. HeyFranHey helped me learn about natural hair products and ShineStruck has great hairstyle tutorials.
What inspired you to create your channel?
I was inspired to create my channel by my instagram followers, they would always ask me about my hair routine, so I decided to create my first wash and go video. I unexpectedly found this new passion and loved sharing my advice and experience with others. I was also coming from a place where I finally felt comfortable with my natural hair, because when I did my big chop I felt really insecure about it. I didn’t immediately fall in love with my natural hair as I thought I would. So I wanted to help others that might be going through a similar situation, to stay focused on the health of their hair and learn to appreciate it naturally.
