How I Color My Hair WITHOUT Using Bleach

One of the most asked questions I get to date is how do I color my hair such light colors without ever having used bleach. My hair naturally is a dark brown color. About 1 year into my natural hair journey I used the cinnamon and honey hair lighting treatments twice a month for a little over a year to get my hair to a light brown color.
*This video is from over 3 years ago when I first started really doing this process.
After getting my hair to a light brown that I was happy with I stopped using the treatments and began doing deepconditioningcolor on top of the light brown.
Later on when my roots began to grow out I didn’t want to start the cinnamon and honey treatments again on my roots only because I knew it would take a long time and I knew I would never get my roots to exactly match the color it had became.
So I decided to use a box color
Feria Copper on my roots only because the color was extremely close to the color the cinnamon and honey treatments made my hair. Now to touch up my roots this is the color I use
and then I can put my semi deep conditioning colors on top of it.
If you have really dark hair and you are looking to try lighter colors I would recommend doing cinnamon and honey treatments twice a month until you reach the desired light brown you want but only if you are willing to be patient and put in the work. Should you attempt this process you will NOT see results right away.
If you are looking to do something a little faster than I would say choose a box color that works good on dark hair and take your hair up to a med/light brown and then do deep conditioning colors on top of that. Also deep conditioning is your best friend when you have any sort of colored hair keep that in mind. Also there are some colors you will never be able to do like gray or platinum. Those two colors will only really show up on bleached hair. Which is exactly why I have never done either as a deep conditioning color. Feel free to leave your questions if any in the comments and I will be sure to answer all as best I can.
How much cinnamon and honey am I suppose to use
Depending on the length of your hair but I would say use half a cup of honey and half a cup of cinnamon.
How can you come back from bleached hair! I so regret it!
I read comments about Cinnamon not being good for the hair. I wondering is that true.
I have never heard that myself but I do know cinnamon is way better for your hair than bleach.
I haven’t had any problems with cinnamon but I always use it in combo with honey.
Are these colours perminant ?
No
Whats brands do you recommend for the deep conditioner coloring?
Any semi perm hair color and any conditioner that is light in color like yellow or white.
Can u use the cinnamon and honey treatment more than twice a month to speed up the results of lighten ur hair?
You can use it once a week but make sure your deep conditioning as well.
If I use a powder booster with my dye, is that considered bleaching my hair?
yes!
Ok. So where do I start? I recently did your deep conditioning color to go red. LOVED it! Did it twice. Then decided due partly to my jobs objection of the color decided to get the red out and try another deep conditioning color. We I tried something similar to color oops, color zap. Lets just say my hair is now NEON PINK/ORANGE. LOL. All I can do is laugh. Do you know what I can do to get normal hair again. I love color. But I wanted to remove the red and do ginger. But with Pink hair how can I do that? What can I put on top of the neon pink to calm it down so that I can try ginger?
First let me say I am soo sorry to be answering your question sooo late. I am sure you have prolly fixed it by now. But when you use color oops it will always make your hair lighter when you pull out hair color. To get out the pink you can do another round of color oops and then you can apply a light brown or ginger on top.
How and what products do you use to get the light colors without bleach? Cinnamon and honey are those box colors or actual natural products? Also, how do you use the shadows to color your hair? Thanks
The cinnamon and honey treatments are done with actual honey and cinnamon. To apply shadow to your hair you can check out the section queen of hair shadowing there are a few video tutorials on how to apply the color.
wats the recipe for the honey cinnamon treatment u used
Half cup of honey, half cup of cinnamon.
Whenever you do Color Oops to remove deep conditioning color, does the permanent color of your roots wash away also?
No! Color oops only removes temporary color
