Artists Who Rock: Kendal Blake
My name is Kendal Blake I’m a 19 year old artist from Brampton, Canada. I’m a student at Sheridan College where I study Illustration.
Type of Art you are known for
To be truthful I don’t know. I do a bit of what I can. I’m still on the path of trying to find my artist style. But I’m in no rush. It will come when it’s my time. Right now I’m in the process of growth and learning.
What/ Who Inspires you?
People are my biggest inspiration. That’s how I find new ideas. Surfing the internet or listening to music. I come across pictures, songs, and even stories that inspire me.
How long have you been an artist?
I’ve been an artist since the day I was born. I don’t recall one moment in my life that I didn’t think I was one. It was always my “thing”. My most progressive year was my freshman year of high school. I attended an arts school learned skills that allowed me to take my self seriously.
Do you have a fave artist? If so who?
My favorite artist is Sylvia Ji. Her artwork is beautiful. It takes me away. She’s the only artist I would buy prints from even if they were beyond my budget. Her work motivates me to find my self as an artist and develop my skills so that I can create mesmerizing work like she does. Another inspirational artist that influenced me growing up is WAK. He paints beautiful images of black men and women. My mother has 3 of his paintings hanging in our house. One of them titled “Behold”.
Has any of your art been published? If so where?
I was in my local newspaper the Brampton Guardian this past summer. That’s it but I’m always working on new art and anything could happen in the next year or so.
The River of Eternal Love
